Services

Consultation

A complementary 30 minute consultation is provided for anyone interested in learning more about services provided and how a death doula can support you or a loved one.

Beginnings Sessions - $200

Two required sessions to get to know one another, discuss end of life options and desires for the client, and create a doula-client work plan.

  • Answer any questions and provide support to the client and/or their caregiver(s) as they navigate their end of life decisions, which might include: advanced care directives, hospice or palliative care options, burial services, vigil planning, remembrance or legacy projects, etc.

  • Review proposed doula-client work plan and amend together as needed

End of Life Doula Support - $600-$1200

End of life doula support encompasses many aspects, including emotional and spiritual support, sharing end of life signs and symptoms with the client and/or caregivers, providing guided imagery or mindfulness work to ease client pain or anxiety (if desired), rememberance project and vigil planning, holding vigil, and early grief and reprocessing work. The number of sessions is determined by the client and/or their family or caregivers, but typically falls between 6-12 sessions. If many of the aspects of the end of life doula support package are not of interest, please contact me to discuss one-off session options at an hourly rate.

Life Review and Meaning Making

Multiple sessions that explore the clients life in order to make meaning, address and support emotions, and surface meaningful rituals or projects.

  • Conduct a life review

  • Discuss emotional and spiritual well-being, relationships, and life’s highs and lows

  • Discuss culture, traditions and other important topics

Vigil Planning

One to two sessions that explore what a good death means and create a vigil plan for the client.

  • Draw from life review and meaning making sessions to create a vigil plan that honors the clients wishes, which might include: sounds, smells, lighting, elements of culture, traditions, and other informative life experiences

  • What should occur at the bedside, and other medical considerations

  • Considerations of caregiver(s) and loved ones, as appropriate

  • Identify doula support in vigil plan

Rememberance or Legacy Project

One to two sessions that explore a project that honors the life of the dying person and creates a remembrance project plan.

  • Draw from life review and meaning making sessions to identify a possible remembrance or legacy project

  • Provide research related to implementing project

  • Identify loved ones who might be included in the project

  • Create and support the remembrance or legacy project plan, as needed

Holding Vigil

Holding vigil is a sacred, but sometimes scary or stressful time. If I have been identified as a support in the vigil plan, I will attend vigil to provide:

  • Emotional support and a calming presence to the caregiver(s) and loved ones

  • To ensure the vigil plan is executed

  • To conduct a ritual, as appropriate

  • Be available by phone/text as needed

Early Grief and Reprocessing

One to two sessions with the primary caregiver(s), family, and other loved ones to check-in, recommend grief resources as needed, and conduct a ritual as requested.

Add-On Services - $50/hr

Add-on services are provided at an hourly rate and available to clients as needed.

Caregiver Respite

The work of a caregiver is difficult, and self-care is essential. Step away to re-energize while I sit with your loved one.

Guided Imagrey and Mindfulness

The Mayo Clinic tells us that the use of guided imagery and other mindfulness practices can help ease pain, discomfort and anxiety. This service is available at an hourly rate, if not desired to be included in the end of life doula support package.

Anti-Racism and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Services

Discrimitation occurs in all fields, and end of life care in no different. If you are from a historically marginalized community, please contact me for a discussion on discounted services, or to access free recomendations for care that fall within the doula scope of practice.
